Unmasking Colon Cancer Gala

Our fight against colon cancer could not have been done without financial support the Center for Colon Cancer Research has received in the recent years.  In 2007, The Unmasking Colon Cancer Gala was the Center's premier fundraising event held in Charleston in 2007 during Colon Cancer Awareness Month (March).  Since, this launching event, the Gala has been rotating location annually throughout the state of South Carolina.  The Gala is intended to celebrate the progress made in the fight against colon cancer.  It seeks to honor those who have survived the disease and remember those who fought and lost their battle.  Finally, the Gala celebrates the continued efforts to educate and create awareness of colon cancer.  Since the first fundraising gala, attendance has doubled and proceeds have generated from $35 000 to over $116 000 to support the Center for Colon Cancer Research efforts.  These proceeds are used to support our research, outreach and screening programs in South Carolina.  Moreover, the Gala fundraising has gained momentum since 2010, with the support of major sponsors like BlueCross Blueshield of South Carolina, CVS Caremark, and others.
